What a beautiful little iris!! :-D
I planted black iris a few years ago but, so far, all I've got are leaves but no blooms. Maybe I should try to buy some of the ones you have as they are so lovely.

This is one of those things that you see and don't see. How's that for being cryptic? :) Iris in water i.e. your little pond. I have walked through woods by streams and ponds and have seen iris by the waters edge and said "nice iris" and kept on walking. It never dawned on me to just put iris in water. Seeing the iris in the water begs a question, "what kind of iris do well in water or a bog?" I want to create a bog in part of my pond, nothing big , just something to experiment with. Are there other kinds of iris that you put in water or a bog? Lining up summer experimenting projects.

There are two types of iris Jerry. Land iris and water/bog iris. The ones I grow in my garden pond are blue, white and yellow flag iris. They will grow well in bogs too.

Toni was my "enabler" on this plant. When I saw that she had something so gorgeous that lived in water and even in small containers... well... I was hooked!
Some of the "older" members will remember my story of this container. I friend/neighbor gave it to me when he moved. I never used the thing for it's original purpose. I put in a couple of different of "regular" plants, but they were struggling anytime it rained. Not to mention mosquitos were turning it into a convention center!
Light bulb moment... Duh! Grow plants that like having their feet wet!
Then I saw Toni's photo and the rest is history.
It does need thinning out. I've got that upcoming trade with the guy and the resale shop/plant stand. We're swapping these purple ones for yellow ones.
And yes Jerry... this is a bog plant. Send me a PM and I can give you the web addy to the place I got it from.
