Three years ago these started as a large pot bought at the grocery store.

Last fall I planted them in the ground by one of the birdbaths and they really like where they are, it took two pictures to get them all photographed...

The color is a little faded now :'(
In a few weeks I will be trimming them back so they will bloom again in the fall.

Those are really eye-catching Toni and are such a lovely colour too. Having them flowering twice in one year is certainly an added bonus. :stew2:

Wow Toni, that Mum is HUGE! I always found the rust colored ones did the best.

Goodness gracious me! Those are great-looking flowers. They look really good now too. You really have a knack with plants, Toni.

The only other places I have seen a display of mums like that is at gardening shows Toni. Absolutely gorgeous :stew1:

Thanks for the nice comments. I can't take credit for the large mum in the first picture, I bought it that way at the grocery store. It was too cumbersome to get out of it's pot to transplant so I just stuck it, pot and all, into another pot. Then transplanted it in the spring. It's been moved twice since then as it grew.

I fell in love with Chrysanthemum's over 40 years ago while living in Lubbock, Tx. They used (and I guess they still do) Mums for landscaping everywhere, the highway department, businesses, all colors and it was gorgeous in the spring and again in the fall. Lubbock gave itself the title of "Chrysanthemum Capital of the World" because of it.

I got my first plants from a road crew that was thinning out a bed in the highway median in front of where I worked.

Those are beautiful. Do they continue to bloom until fall?
