Paige and William built their house several years ago. It's on a sloping lot, so off the kitchen there's always been a small landing and a flight of stairs to the backyard They have been wanting to add a large porch, and underneath it a concrete patio that leads out to the backyard directly from their basement playroom. Finally, they've been able to accomplish that upgrade!! They are so happy. The start of the work. They concrete patio has been poured, and the uprights that support the porch have been installed and the work on the porch itself has been started. Looking down on the work from the kitchen sliding doors. And here's Milo celebrating the finished product!! Paige is so excited to have a patio...the workers had barely left before she had William out there (in the dark I might add!!!) hanging her plants and installing a platform box for the doves! We've talked a whole bunch about how to furnish that patio..what plants, and William is looking for decent patio furniture for both the porch and patio, and she's been poring over the photos of the patio I created at Ed's house, remember this one? This is kind of her template, just not as much. I will be adding to this thread as the work progresses....I love having a visual record of progress!
Oh so do I Ronni!! I wish I could actually be there to see the progress. The patio already looks lovely and I can hardly wait to see more photographs as it gets its finishing touches.
Paige just ordered this from Amazon for the deck, and also a porch swing for the patio. Then she wants to fill the rest of the patio with more eclectic stuff, rather than sleek stuff like this. I think she kind of divided the duties between her and William...she'll decorate the patio, while William will do more with the porch. Kinda makes sense...the grill and smoker are going to be out there I think, and he's the grillmeister, so he gets to choose how to configure all that with whatever furniture else he wants to add around that set they just ordered. I can shop more easily than Paige can (taking 3 kids shopping is no joke!) So I'm gong to start hunting at Goodwill and places like that for bits and pieces for the patio.....knick knacks, things that can be repurposed as plant stands, that kind of thing as well as funky chairs that can be painted, things that she can use as a little table, etc...the kinds of things that with a little vision and a coat of paint can be repurposed to fill a need. I love this part of decorating!
OO I love the outdoor patio furniture!! I could see myself sitting there with a cold juice and a good book. Good luck with your repurposing trip. I'll wait to hear, and see, all about it.
Wanted to post the before and after...I didn't have these photos available when I started this post, or they would have been at the beginning We've begun the decorating. I came home from Goodwill with an entire trunk full of stuff that I hope we can repurpose in some way for the deck and/or porch. I love doing stuff like that!
Lots of lovely goodies to decorate with!! The patio and deck are going to look even more terrific Ronni. I really like the look of the whole area and would have something similar here if I could.
