Gorgeous penguin, it looks like he knows exactly what is going on and how to react. Was he trained or where they just lucky he was cooperative?

I love the pictures of Nils Olav looking at (Reviewing) the troops.

I am so happy for King penguin Nils. He seems to know his role, all right.

I think that is so cool, for the Kings Guard to have a mascot like that. From what i have heard and read before this penguin loves his troops. Also this is the second or third penguin to have the honor. And he's and emperor penguin to top it all off,,lol. The first Nils Olav took to a norwegian soldier and was later named Nils after the soldier. Everytime the troops went to Scotland they visited Nils. So the Guard adopted him and named him after the King at that time Olav,, King Harold's father. thats the story i was told how he bacame Nils Olav.

I really liked that film! :D He's very well behaved. I wonder what he spotted when he stopped for a closer look - some unpolished buttons perhaps?

I wish I'd known Nils Olav was going to be honoured as we don't live too far away from the zoo and I'd love to have taken photographs of the ceremony.
