We had to go to Lowe's yesterday, yes it was a legitimate trip we had to buy a part for Mom's lamp so Randy could repair it.

But you know how it is, these things happen at this time of the year, no use avoiding it, they were there, first ones of 2012, looking so pretty and begging me to take them home. By the time he found the part and rescued me from the plants that were hollering "Take me I'm yours" and "I'm lonely, please love me" and "You know you want to, just do it" and jumping into the cart I that had mysteriously appeared in front of me as I wandered up and down the aisles...just looking I had told myself, hahaha...these were in the cart, their little roots clinging onto the sides and bottom of the cart so they couldn't be lifted out and put back on the tables.
The roots let go of the cart as I lifted them out and placed them on the counter to be scanned and paid for. Funny that, since I couldn't get any of them to budge just a minute earlier

The Gnome couple sitting behind them are certainly enjoying their up close and personal view too.

Spring is in the air. I hope. I don't dare go near them places yet. I'd be carring in and out with the weather.
    Nice finds.

Toni, after reading your post and seeing your finds, I seem to hear plants from the nursery down the road calling my name . . . .

Donna, I thought about the near freezing temps we will have this week at night but the plants would be out in it at the garden center anyway, so why not have them here.

    hehehehe, and so it begins...again

Within walking distance of a nursery??? My debit card would melt from overuse!!

It's a conspiracy by the plants, they know just how to look as you walk down the aisle. The new plants get better at it as the season progresses. Then you find you have no room in your shopping basket for anything else except plants.

Isn't it funny, how every year there seems to be something you have never seen for a color or a texture that just calls to you to take it home.
The snap in your pic reminds me of the seeds I just started..I hope.
This year I bought a new petunia seed to try it is called candypops sunset.....I can't wait to see what it looks like. I am hoping it reminds me of well...a sunset. An orangy pink flower with a little yellow throat.

Toni your finds were great choices.

I have to pass by Lowes on my commute to work. I have been pretending it's not even there! But it is getting harder and harder to resist those plants calling out to me!
    Great selection Toni!

Tomorrow I hope to get the plants in the ground...somewhere but not sure where yet. I also have a bag of Elephant Ear bulbs and a Clematis that I picked up last week, they need to be somewhere too.

TheBip, our garden centers are open year round (except for WM). There are always plants available but usually winter hardy ones and shrubs, trees, houseplants.

I'm green with envy Toni. I can't even think of buying anything for the garden yet as everywhere is frozen solid. :( I just hope the plants in my greenhouse are OK as the door is all iced up and I can't get in.
At least I can enjoy seeing all the little beauties you've rescued from a life on the shelf. ;)
