The "Pride" of the Garden

    My sis-in-law had given me some seeds to start early this spring. Once they started growing, I realized I'd forgotten what she said they were. I even used the experts here to figure out it was a Pride of Barbados
    (aka Bird of Paradise).
    And here it is with it's first bloom! Can't wait until it's big enough to produce lots of these.

    I can't think of anything more thrilling than growing a plant from seed and finally seeing all of it's beauty!
    I love everything about this plant, the flowers, leaves... even the name!

    Your Pride of Barbados is a true example of why I love this site. I am getting to see so many new plants that I do no normally see locally.

    What a magnificent flower...and grown from seed, to boot! I have never seen one of those lovely things before, that I can recall. Certainly not in my simple garden.
    I find it very exotic-looking.
    You have done a really good job rearing that plant.
