What an exotically beautiful looking plant Cheryl. I love it!! The flowers remind me a little of iris blooms - but in miniature. Thanks for sharing your Queens Tears with us all.
I found this plant at a co-worker/friend's church Fall Festival Fundraiser about 3 years ago. It was in bloom at the time and I fell in love with it on first sight! I've learned that it's also called a Friendship Plant because it needs to be divided/shared ALOT. No wonder it only cost me only a couple of dollars. :-D
Very cool looking. Do you know what it really is though? it reminds me of an epiphyte type plant. Are the leaves finely serrated or are they smooth edged?
Cherylllllll, do you know what I am going to ask??? This plant is not in our Plants Data Base, would you please suggest it ???
Neat Cheryl, I was wondering if it was a bromeliad. but all I could think was browellia, and i knew that wasn't what I wanted to ask. thanks for sharing, it is neato!
Carolyn... I think it has the most "neato" blooms of all of my plants... next to to the Passion Flower. Mother Nature sure makes use of her crayons when it comes to flowers. :-D
That's sure beautiful. I am running out to the greenhouse to see if mine is blooming now. Barb in Pa. my edit: no such luck.
What an absolute pretty Bromeliad. I should look for one as they are easy to keep. Thank you for posting it Cheryl. Jerry P.S. I read that you can put the plant in a plastic bag with an apple slice to force it to bloom.
Barb... does the leaves on your's get "spotty" like this one does? Jerry... does the apple slice make it bloom earlier or more blooms?
