Saturday and Sunday we could go and pick up our ordered seeds and things...as well as the compost that we had reserved.

We are able to reserve compost from the county. Basically it is free, but we must pay the transportation costs. Not a bad deal at all. It works out to 80 euro-cents per wheel barrow-full.

It was good, clean compost, all steamy and warm. It had such a healthy smell.

My partner and I worked like mad persons, toting 15 wheel barrows yesterday...and 5 more today.
With the bad storm friday evening there was serious damage throughout the country and our lottie complex was also hit.
There were four arches damaged in the flower garden--one will have to be completely replaced. So we busied ourselves with the reparations in between hauling the compost. It was quite a challenge working in the constantly blowing wind. It was stiff and cold. A real challlenge.
We could tell the wind was bad, because while biking out to the lotty, we saw only one other bicyclist. It was an odd sensation.

I saw the truck unloading the orders on friday afternoon on my way home.

Here is one of the two big containers full of compost. These large containers will be on our property for two weeks. If there is any left I may well buy a few more.

Time for a little pause for a foto.

Oh just look at all that wonderful rich compost. :-D Your veggies are going to love it.
What a shame though that one of your arches is going to have to be replaced. I know what damage those gale force winds can do so you have my sympathies Sjoerd. Let's hope the weather calms down and allows you and your wife to get everything set to rights again and to dig in all that black gold. :stew2:

Boy, Glendann... it really smell and feels good to me. It was still steaming and hot to the touch. You got an excellent deal on your load disdn't you. Uses champion compost is known to be excellent stuff.

Well Droopy, I can remotely feel the stretched muscles a bit, you could say ;)
Heh heh heh. I'm glad the work has concluded. I shall spread it next weekend or perhaps this wednsday, weather permitting.

Thanks for your sympathy, Eileen. Those arches have been damaged twice by strong winds. Last year, I had to buy two big wooden ones to replace two that were totally blown apart by the wind.
