The Siskins are nesting

    I haven't had these little fellows all winter yet they arrived today and were never away from the nest material that I have out in two holders.

    Isn't it wonderful to see our feathered friends getting ready for their breeding season? Our dogs hair gets snapped up when we groom him in the garden.

    Wonderful photo and what a great idea to put out nesting materials where you can watch the birds gathering it! A win for both sides.

    I just made a couple of holders for the materials. The suet holders that were used for feeding in the winter will work well.

    Neat pic but I would chop the nesting material into 1 inch pieces ! I have had a few young birds get those long strands wrapped around their leg and cut off circulation !

    I will do that, they do struggle a bit with it.

    Last week all the birds from small juncos to large crows were gathering nesting materials. This week they appear to have settled in. How quickly things change :p
