I received this, and thought others might like it:

How many Forum members are needed to change a light bulb?

1 to change the bulb and write about it

14 to share their experiences regarding bulb changing and how it could be done

7 to warn about the dangers of changing lightbulbs

27 to point at spelling or grammatical errors in the posts

53 to scold the ones pointing at spelling or grammatical errors

41 to yell at the ones scolding those pointing at spelling or grammatical errors

    6 to argue whether it's «light bulb» or «lightbulb»

Another 6 to violently disagree with the above mentioned 6

2 being in the business claiming that it's no longer called «light bulbs» but «lamps»

15 know-it-alls claiming to be in the business and saying «light bulb» is fine

156 mailing the admins demanding all light bulb thread posters banned from the forum

109 saying that «this is not a light bulb forum, please find one and continue your discussion there»

111 defending the thread, since «we all use lightbulbs»

306 discussing the best way to change light bulbs, which brand is best and where to buy it

27 posting web site links to browse different types of light bulbs

14 claiming that the links were wrong and posting the correct links

12 leaving the forum because they can't handle the light bulb discussion

    4 saying «didn't we just do this?»

13 saying «please Google before posting stupid threads about light bulbs»

    Six months later:

1 new member answering the original post, and the whole thing starts again...

I have visited many forums like that and I'm happy to say that GardenStew is not one of them :D

    They forgot one though

Most forums are actually like that. and thank goodness the Stew does not fall into that category
That is exactly why I like the Stew so much and prefer spending my time on the Stewing forum. Stewbies are just great and certainly not condescending or petty.

My heartfelt thanks to all stewbies for keeping this the best ever forum.

I like the stew here. Others seem to be just 'too much' and somewhat complicated. Thats not the case here. Everthing is very easy to get to. And the folks here are very friendly, I especially like how there are so many from differant parts of the world.

Discussion forums are ok, I guess, but the Stew is so friendly and warm. I like it here too.

Boy i sure hope we never get like that here,,, i have to agree, that the Stew is just a relaxed kind of place to actually enjoy your time on the net with. No hassles or arguements an thats just fine with me. What i do like is the patiences all the members have with questions that sometimes feels stupid to the one asking, an when answered, you find out there is no such thing as a stupid question an that comes from the welcoming an patiences of all the members here... Great forum, Thanks. :-D

Haha! I've seen forums like that - thankfully this is not one of them... unless we start a thread about lightbulbs?

:D I think if one was started, you'd get a lot of help and support, but none of that other stuff in between.
