Thanks for showing the costumes. Very interesting stuff.
For how many days is this celebration going to be going on?

With the dresses they are beautiful but I wonder how difficult it would be having to do all your daily chores in them without modern machines its hard enough for me doing the dishes without soaking myself! ( hubby doesn't see the need for an electric dishwasher he has a manual one that works if he is nice to it !!)

I'm afraid I would be triping on those long dresses and be on the floor more than anything.

I've really enjoyed seeing all those wonderful picies. I wouldn't like to have been the one to wash those dresses after it had been raining - just imagine all the mud they would collect!!

I think those dresses look cool too, but I'm trying to imagine how I would get work done in my garden without getting dirty LOL

Correction, glendann - that skirmish is properly known as the War of Northern Aggression. My ancestors fought mostly for the Confederate States of America. One of my ancestors was a general, who died from a belly-wound he got from a yankee.

Recreation of history is always interesting to me. I love the dresses, but wonder how women in the south stood all the pettycoats - wow! I suppose that's why they were always "swooning"
