This much snow on a palm tree just is NOT right .... (big sigh)...... we've had snow, more snow, more more snow and it is still snowing!!! But snow on a palm tree just isn't proper .....
I don't think I've ever seen snow on a palm tree before - especially with the sunshine in the background!! We have snow here too but it's, for the most part, all on native trees so it doesn't look out of place.
It has been a crazy winter here so far this year. We've had snow fall after snow fall (at least it has mostly melted off in between) this year with more predicted. Granted I live in the tropical belt of Canada (so to speak) where typically we 'might' get a dump of snow but it melts almost as soon as it touches down and maybe might last 24 hours as a slushy melting yucky mess. I've been mostly white since mid-December and COLD too (Brrrrrrrrrrr). I'm hoping most of my plants will weather through this but I've finally come to the conclusion that many of my plants, particularly those growing in pots, might have indeed frozen over this prolonged cold snap. I do have one dracaena planted in a concrete planter by my front entrance that has toppled sideways so am thinking he/she is in the process of giving up the ghost and I'll have that planter to re-design and plant. Just hoping all others out there with roots growing in the ground are not meeting a similar fate.
"I've been mostly white since mid-December.." sounds like the punch line of a joke Sorry to hear of your weird snow and sun mix if it bothers you, though here in the south east corner of Aussie we have a saying.. 'If you don't like the weather just wait a moment' and it looks exactly like your picture does! I have noticed that people who come from places where the weather is unpredictable, are the most vivacious. Look forward to hearing if the dracaena makes it , I hope so!
It was below zero here all day so no snow melt off and 1 more nail in the frozen dracaena coffin so am thinking it'll be a goner for sure real soon - BUT - will see. Weather here on the coast is usually highly unpredictable. We can get everything from sun to rain to snow in an hour
