Hmmm well I do know where Holland is and I do know it's part of the Netherlands. :-D As for the rest ... well I'm still confused.
Very cute...Now it is totally clear. Actually I have visited your map here many times. I have always been curious about where West Friesland was. Thanks for showing us.
Now about that jack a lope from the Dakota's....I forgot about that thing. I really hope no one from the Netherlands comes looking for that ummmm..... hybrid? animal.
You really have to love geography to make a passing grade learning all of that. I always heard that the Dutch in the name Pennsylvania Dutch did not have anything to do with The Netherlands but was a corruption of the word Deutsch which means German. And the Dutch Chocolate name you see on products here also has nothing to do with The Netherlands. Dutched chocolate is natural cocoa that has been alkalized to remove its acidity and make it neutral. But over the years people forgot what that originally meant and got too lazy to label it correctly so it became Dutch Chocolate.
Thanks, Sjoerd, I'm very interested in that type of information, history and geography.. I believe I detected a little 'tongue-in-cheek' there and got a good chuckle over that.. Hank
Thanks Sjoerd for clearing that up! I learned a few things from your video. I have always been interested in Geography. My neighbors are from somewhere over there. I always assumed they are from Holland, now I will need to find out where they're from for sure.
Got it! not... Really interesting all the same. So the islands in the Carribbean are they what I've heard of as The Dutch Antilles?
Loved that video! Now I have a clearer idea of the provinces, islands, and governmental bodies. Not real clear, but clearer . When we visited Bonaire we fell in love with the Nederlanders who lived there. We even got to meet the queen who was visiting for a few days and received anyone who wanted to shake hands. I managed to curtsey while wearing shorts and a tee-shirt!
