All of the rain from Tropical Storm Fay went north and east of us. We didn't get a drop! We still have a chance of some rain on Friday. A storm should be coming in from the northwest then.

The story of late spring and all summer for us has been, storms south and east of us ..... but none here.

Gustav looks like it has a potential of becoming a big problem for whereever it hits on the Gulf Coast. That means it could spread rain much further inland than the others have this year.

It started a real light drizzle about 4:30 pm and has been coming down real light ever since and it's 6:30 now. The tv says maybe another hours worth. Both of my rain barrels are full and the grass is starting to green already!

The weatherman says this may be the 10th rainiest season in 100 years. I guess we've been getting someone's rain. We've had drought conditions for the last ten years. It said this is from the tail end of the tropical storm Julio that was off the Baja. It's gray and cloudy now but it's waiting for us to leave for work so we can drive through it. dooley

Checked the rain guage this morning and we ended up with 2/10's of an inch. Not much, but I will take it! Both rain barrels are full to the brim and the ground is wet. The robins are a bunch of happy campers too this morning! It's supposed to be cloudy all day today, so it won't evaporate right back out of the ground. And they are still saying storms tomorrow ahead of a cold front tomorrow.

    Well . . .
We had 6 inches of rain last night, and the power went out sometime after 11 last night. (No water either!) It came back on about 8:40 this morning. The road above me is closed, but I don't know why . . . maybe trees down or something . . . at least they got the power restored. I am now having my coffee . . . finally!

Looks like I will get rain from Gustav. Glenda and Toni probably will as well. I hope Sharon will be OK. I am sure they are taking precautions. I need batteries anyway, so that has been added to my WalMart list. I have 3 cases of water and plenty of candles. Hope I don't need any of these items, but we can sure use the rain. Everyone batten down the hatch!!
