I know that tiger swallowtails use wild black cherry ( prunus serotina) as a host plant. I was wondering if they use common chokecherry( prunus virginiana) as well ?
As far as I know the Tiger Swallowtail host plants are Tulip Poplar, Cherry, and Birch butterflyboy. Maybe someone else will know of others for you.
The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail uses pretty much all trees of the Prunus species for host plants and there have been reports that they will use the Prunus virginiana as well. Also, here is a link to the question you asked last fall with more suggested host plants... http://www.gardenstew.com/viewtopic.php ... ht=#152897
