My tipsy project with some growth on it. My 1/2 hour tipsy project. ( photo / image / picture from carolyn keiper's Garden ) newly planted and today 6 weeks later My 1/2 hour Tipsy planter ( photo / image / picture from carolyn keiper's Garden ) I had fun doing this and waiting to see it grow. The black plastic pots I used work OK but I would suggest using the rigid black pots in the future. These dry out fast enough, I would imagine the clay ones dry out even faster.
Thanks everyone. I have it sitting on my front stoop, so i get to see it a lot. Cherylad, I put, ageratum, wave petunias, lobelia, a geranium and a snapdragon thing of some kind(not what was on the seed packet anyhow) all on the bottom . The next one has Wave petunias, lobelia, the snapdragon thingy, and some alyssum, then there was a sprengerii fern and waves again, and then I had another pot I had on my trailer with all my other stuff for sale that I snagged an popped on the top. It had a denim wave petunia and lobelia and a snapdragon.
Well done Carolyn,..it looks very good!,..it sure is a great way to extend a small garden,..upwards!,..though i know you have lots of room,..a good project,..and an attractive finish.
A fun creation that turned out very nice indeed. I've got to try that! It will fit right into our eeeh... eccentric garden.

denim wave petunia ( photo / image / picture from carolyn keiper's Garden ) This is the denim wave that I snagged off my sale table and dropped on top of the stake in my planter. the picture shows it, but the flowers are all different shades on one plant. It is really pretty unique. Not at all what I was expecting for a purple.
I like that variation of tints on one plant and the colours go with the overall effect of your structure quite well, in my view.
Very attractive and good choice of plants,I think blue and shades of blue are particularly attractive,and with your display I am not dissappointed. I did a similar thing years ago and now I am going to do it again,I had forgotten how lovely it could look....I used 1 large pot for the bottom then put smaller one on top in the middle, then a smaller one on top of that...it was pretty stable,I used it for strawberries too. Thank you for renewing my enthusiasm.
OK you got me hooked, I have to try it. Since you say it dries out I'll try using a plant base inside with to help hold moisture. I love the idea of having it by the front door. Your is sooo perfect!
