theres probably some on here that has never heard of a tobacco stick. but it is used for hanging tobacco in barns to cure. I found some tobacco sticks (600) last week and decided to build a garden fence from them. they are all oak, all 60 to 75 yrs old and all hand hewed! here are some pictures. got 40 ft done today with 60 ft to go.. whatta ya think/

I love it!!!!! In fact I love the whole look you have there, birdhouses, tree stumps and the plants. Don't forget to show more photos when the last 60 feet is done.

That's the kind of fence I would love to have but alas, tobacco doesn't grow around here so no tobacco sticks to scavenge.

We don't have tobacco sticks in Scotland but how I wish we did!! Your fence is great and the sticks are all spaced so well. To build an oak fence of well matured sticks like that over here would cost a fortune. Well done. :-D

I love it too. It's great. I never would have thought of that. I would love to do that too, I have a bunch of them. Your flowers and everything are wonderful.

I have a serious case of fence envy! That is a handsome fence, and being well-cured oak, will last forever. You have done a lovely job with it.

It looks beautiful! I have seen programs showing tobacco hanging to dry in barns...never thought of what they might be hanging on. Beeeeutiful.
