I thought I would put in a bird photo today, and perhaps add one tomorrow. Will start with a Great Blue heron.

Great start to the "bird a day"!
We have a Great Blue that visits our pond most mornings. Lately he has been walking the pathway my husband keeps mowed about four feet above the waterline. Have you heard of a Great Blue that doesn't want to get his feet wet?

We are seeing more and more herons on the sides of motorways and dual carriageways these days. I guess they are looking for small mammals that the traffic disturbs.

We have several here. Saw one today in the middle of the pasture behind the pool. Evidently feasting on the grasshoppers that are everywhere now.

We usually see them flying in the early morning and then again just before dark. Once in a great while we will have one come into the little creek that crosses our driveway.
