The first 3 are so pretty and I was excited because we do get the Dark-eyed Junco here. The hawks are amazing though. Regal and dangerous looking.
I like the red eyes of the Spotted towhee and the Coopers hawk. They really stand out against the plumage.
I think that coopers hawk was one I saw come out of the woods one day with a nestling from the blue jays in its beak. Horrid sight to see, actually. It happened while I was feeding chickens one morning and the noise coming from the woods was amazing. As I went around the corner of the coop and peered towards the woods out came this little hawk being chased by the blue jays. It must have had one of it nestlings in its clutch.
