So then, who’s the lazy lummox? No lotty visits for two days. The last time we were there, we harvested lots of veg, because we had an appointment with my old mentor and his wife to do burgers in their back yard. Basically, we would bring everything except the dessert...including the little bbq grill. There were lots of nice veg, but the main object of interest was the two tom types that I wanted to use on Burger Day. I looked around here and there and saw that the last wave of colour is on its way. Some are beginning to form flower buds and others are beginning to open their first blooms. One of the last Stokesia was looking good . I am not sure if the last buds will open before fall begins. On the way to the lottie, I saw this cardoon with butterfly and honey bee. Oh, but I digress. We were talking about Burger Day, right. Well, we took along a couple of salads to nibble on in-between the burgers. A potato salad and a beetroot salad with honey and goat cheese crumbles on top. The two tom sorts we would use to go on the cheeseburgers were the Crimson Crush (above) and the Ferline (below). I liked the Ferline a tiny bit better . Right then chaps, time to return to the housework—window washing and scrubbing the wooden floors......and of course, process those beetroots.
Both of those tomato types look delicious! Does the Ferline have a chewy or slightly hard core (the white cross in the middle of the slice)? You must be so welcome for Burger Day, and in demand!
No jane, that german cross in the centre is soft like the rest. We all had a good laugh out under the trees.
