hello Everyone, My tomato plants were doing fine, then all of a sudden they wilted and died, why? moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
G'day mate.. Although I'm on the other side of the planet (DownUnder) tomatoes probably grow, or not, for the same reasons.. Are yours in pots? I ask as I did a few this way for the first time ever this year and they also grew well for a while.. formed juvenile fruit, then started wilting.. and finally went roots up. The cause was hidden under the sugarcane mulch on the surface.. too much water.. poor drainage. Actually too much organic matter than turned spongy..) It also explains why in one particular bed, in one small area, I've lost in-ground tommies both last year, and one just now.. I haven't checked but I suspect there may be a "basin" in clay under the friable loam.. and when the roots progress down to here they suddenly, almost overnight, go wilty and will not recover.. even after being carefully moved ( with soggy soil attached).. Any help?
