I can tell we're going to have lots of nice tomatoes to drool over when the season's turning. Have you grown any of them before, or are they all new for you?
I never realized there were so many types of tomatoes. How much land do you have for your garden??? I would be supplying the whole neighborhood if I grew that many. I am hoping to grow some sauce tomatoes and a few slicers.
It just looks like alot but i only plant 1 of each and this year i have a good spot of my sisters garden BECAUSE of the wide variety of maters i shared with them last year. They were just grownig the plain ole red hybrids and when they tasted some of what i grew last year well.....
Oh by the way Toni, I just happen to have a wonderful varity for making sauces with AND 10 seeds that i can spare if you interested? Its called Purple Russian and here is a little about them if your looking for a change from the traditional red sauce. http://www.reimerseeds.com/purple-russian-tomato.aspx
Oh, yes please Pepperdude. I was just planning on the red Romas, but some purple ones would be cool too. I'll PM my address to you or do you still have it?
Wow, that is some collection of toms. I love the yellows and whites the best, for me they are the sweetest. Hopefully I will beat the blight this year and get a good bounty.
Hmmm.... i had to make a few adjustments to my list because of incoming seed trades so the new and final list is: Chocolate Stripes Jack Johnson Absinthe Charlie's Green Malachite Box Grandma Oliver's Green Grub's Mystery Green Aunt Ruby's German Green Cherry Vorlon Spudakee JD's Special C-Tex African Beefsteak Pink Grapefruit TYW Top Sirloin Blagojevich Fantom Da Laos Berkeley Tie Dye Heart Uncle Charlie's Giant Italian Pear Pork Chop Green Bomb Potato Leaf White Indain Stripe Early Girl Tigerette Red Tigerette Yellow In my sisters garden: Super Marmande Mule Team Debbie
PD, I can't wait to see pictures of all your harvest. Even at one plant per type, that's a lot of toms. You can even go in the mater business!
i never thought tomatoes would have lots of varieties and colors as such. i just know how to eat them yet i can't distinguish one from the other.
