We are going to a Rod Stewart concert tonight, tickets were my birthday present. Back in April when I bought them July 26th seemed a long way off but here it is. Haven't been to any concert in over twenty years, I went almost every time Neil Diamond was performing in Dallas and I went to a couple of Ricky Nelson concerts way back when. I am a little nervous and excited, should be fun.
You're going to have a wonderful time I'm sure Toni. Do tell us all about it won't you? I haven't been to a concert since I was 15 years old (over forty years ago). I went with a school friend to see Cliff Richard and came away with a dreadful headache from all the screaming fans. Enjoy yourself - you deserve it. :-D
Wow, I have never had such a fun evening in my life....ummmm, such a fun evening shared with 6,349 other people and Rod Stewart, that is. Except for the two drunks behind us who would let out ear piercing yells supposedly of appreciation for what they were hearing, blocking out what we wanted to hear and hurting our ear drums....those two gals had lungs on them He is such a showman, on stage for two hours and we only saw him still for just a few seconds while he took a drink. He had 4 quick wardrobe changes but those were mainly to put on dry, fresh clothes...he was wringing wet up there under the lights. A couple of women on the front row thru Yellow Roses on stage for him, The Yellow Rose of Texas being the unofficial state song. Several thru panties on stage, he made the comment "it's been a long time since there have knickers thrown on stage for me" at the end of the show he picked them up and took them with him. At one point he was at the edge of the stage and held his hand down towards a lady there who reached up and took his hand. He was sort of singing to her when a security guy came up to make her sit down, Rod turned the mike off and told the guard it was okay and kept holding the ladies hand. The opening act was a couple of young guys from Australia called The Kin. They were good, but we were not the crowd to totally appreciate their kind of music and 45 minutes was longer than they should have been given to perform. Looking around before the show started I figured the average age of the audience was 55. But age didn't keep most of them from standing the whole time, dancing and singing. It was really fun and I am having my morning tea in the cup I bought as a souvenir. Afterwards, we sat in the back of Randy's pickup in the parking lot waiting for traffic to clear out before getting in line to leave. We got to talk to several people as they walked by, watched one woman wandering around looking for her car which I hope she eventually found and enjoyed getting sprinkled on a little.
"Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you ..." Wow, what an experience that must have been. Love that guy. Where was the concert? Glad you had a great time.
It sounds as though you had a really memorable and fun time Toni. Your enthusiasm comes through in your writing. That concert must have been THE best birthday present ever. A night that will never be forgotten that's for sure. :-D
Gaylyn, the concert was at the Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie...really fantastic venue. Eileen, Randy was so worried that I wouldn't enjoy it since it was my birthday present he wanted it to be special. On about the third song I was singing and dancing sitting down and felt him looking at me. I looked over and he had this sorta funny look on his face, he said later that he was just very happy I was having a good time.
That sounds like it was a really good concert and you enjoyed it double. What a nice way to "do" a birthday present, Toni. Way t'go!
I know what you mean about Randy's 'funny look' Toni. I have a feeling Ian has much the same look on his face when he sees me bobbing about in the car to Abba music.
