The threat of tornadoes, large hail and floods...oh my. :-D It has been normal for us this time of year, actually north Texas has had at least one tornado in all twelve months, even in Dec in 1984 and that was a big one. But because of the drought for the last 23 months, we haven't had these storms since 2004. Lots of storms 'training' up across us from the southwest and supposed to last all night, thru tomorrow and into Saturday morning. Glenda will probably get more than we do, as usual, but we should get 2-6 inches before the sun shines again.
Hate that old tornado watch. Living in Wisconsin, we spent a fair amount of time in the basement while sirens wailed. Remember seeing two of those tornadoes fallowing each other down our main street into town. Living on Lake Michigan, there was a temperature inversion about ten blocks off the lake and we would see the funnel cloud lift up and go away at that point. dr
well becareful,im worried about my son in airforce in oklahoma!the weather seems so strange these days, think that sanami thru the earth off less than ainch, but still screwed us up!
Oh toni, i hope yall are ok over there, My in-laws live in Plano..i bet they are getting nervous too. Last storm shattered their patio table. I guess we will be getting some of that tomorrow in Monroe. stay safe!
Please stay safe Toni and Glenda. The slightest hint of really bad weather hitting you then find somewhere safe to sit it out.
I will be inside now after Shanna and I put all my plants in the little house if we get hail they are not safe nor a tornado. We tried.Shanna and Cheynne will be here with me.
Just read news of twisters hitting parts of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska yesterday. I do hope everyone is safe.
Thanks everyone for your concern, it appears that scary stuff turned out to be just 'it could happen'. In fact, my part of north Texas evidently was in a gap between the storms...we got only 3/8 of an inch during the whole evening. Once again most of the heavy stuff was East and South of us. Our electricity was off for almost 5 hours, but sleeping with the windows open wasn't so bad since there was a nice cool breeze left by the storm.
It's always a wonderful relief when the storm takes another path. Tornados are a fact of life here also. I have a really nice storm house that I use to winter plants over. It is a comfort to have.
