Does your family stick to tradition every year on the Thanksgiving dinner recipes? We are cooking 2 turkey's this year and have decided to try the 2-hour recipe from our local grocery store. You can't argue with 2 hours!

For the basics we're pretty traditional. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes. We're always up for trying out new recipes though. I'd have to say the best was a walnut cranberry fruit salad type thing. It tasted awful, it was strong and really pretty bitter, but it made for great conversation at the dinner table watching everyone's faces pucker up.

hahahaha have i got a "pucker up" story..... when i first got here to norway, i made a dinner for the family that lives here on the island,, well it was kind of a thanksgiving dinner minus the turkey,, we had ptarmigan or rype instead,, but for desert i had found some berries in the freezer an decided since i couldn't get pumpkin filling or a pumpkin for that matter, i would make a pie....to make a long story short, it turned out the berries were Rowen or Rogn berries, an i really didn't add alot of sugar either, everyone took one bite an didn't know what to do with what they had in their mouths, they didn't want to hurt my feelings but just couldn't swallow the berries either,, so after i asked my husband what was wrong, an he couldn't answer coz of his mouth was sealed an full of bitter berries,, i took a bite an ran to the garbage an spit it out,, i never heard so much scraping of chairs so fast after i did that,, then i bust out laughing,, an so did they with lots of water an coffee gulping... so it was a fun "semi-thanksgiving" an did cause alot of jokes an conversations for a few of the holidays to follow,,

We are pretty traditional! The only wild and crazy thing that's happened is my father-in-law tried his new deep fryer a year or so ago. Wasn't too bad, couldn't really tell that much difference between the fried turkey and the baked one. My sister-in-law made a jello salad thing with crushed pretzels on the bottom. Something flopped because the pretzels floated to the top and looked like cat food! :D
