Having booked a holiday with my travel agent,..for one week in Stockholm Sweden,..paid for same,..received confirmation of booking and was presented with my paperwork i booked a taxi to take me from the house to the bus station,..the taxi was on time as was the bus to take me to the Airport,..the latter had to be booked by phone. No problem with the flight,..and arrived in Stockholm,..took a taxi to the hotel and presented my paperwork,..then was informed that i had no booking in that hotel?. My travel agent booked the hotel through an English company,..that company had gone bust and so the hotel received no payment,..luckily i was given a room for the night,..for which i paid in cash,..but after that they would be full,..i then phoned my travel agent,..who then booked me into another hotel and paid the bill. My travel agent refunded me the one nights bill for the hotel. It does make you sweat,..anyone else got a story to tell?.
We needed your travel agent! We had booked a cruise leaving from Bermuda. We were living in upstate NY at the time, so we made arrangements to fly to Toronto where the charter flight to Bermuda was leaving from, all arranged by our travel agent who was given one instruction--we do NOT want to be on the last flight out of Rochester to Toronto. With the winter weather we wanted to make sure we had options if the flight was delayed or cancelled. Guess what? We were on the last flight out of Rochester to Toronto. We fired the agent, booked ourselves into a late morning flight, and enjoyed a great vacation. It wasn't a disaster, but we were one snowstorm away from losing our cruise!
Hi Jane, delighted you enjoyed the vacation,..it was a close call,..the chances of you being grounded due to snow was VERY high,..you really have to be careful with travel agents,..do they really care?,..i think its grab your money at all costs.
