Got a bid and the filberts are coming down in the morning. :-D They have the filbert blight so are dying a big branch at a time. It will really open up the area to sun, and am looking forward to the new life for this area.

It's sad to lose trees, but at least you'll have a sunnier gardening spot and lots of mulch.
We lost a large hackberry and a big mesquite this year, and I am still grieving for them.

It was sad to realize they were diseased, and had been failing. We went from having dozens of squirrels to only a single pair living in the neighbors fir trees. At one time there were four squirrel nests in the filberts alone. Having planted these 30 years ago it is sad seeing the changes, but I'm sure I will be able to find something to fill the space ;)

Sorry about the trees being diseased... but happy that you'll have a new spot to fill. :stew2:

The trees are gone and the firewood is left. We've opened up the yard to sunlight and a lot of planning and a little work.

We saw the bucket lift and asked to have the firs limbed up also. More light here too. :)

Sad but good changes Jewell. I agree you will enjoy having more light in the yard.

We had 3 Big tree taken down last year. Enough fire wood for 4-5 years. But 2 ways leaning toward the house. And other got hit by lighting-huge silver maple.
