    1. Is a tree growing in the back corner under a mimosa.

    2. Is a weed that I've mostly cleared out but actually quite like. It grows fast and easily. It kinda reminds me of spiderwort but the leaves are veined and the flowers have six petals. Maybe a type of phlox?

    3. Is a vine growing in the middle of my back yard. There was an arbor here that we took down to paint and fix which makes me think this was planted by the previous owner. It's never bloomed though and I actually think its ugly. The pink flower in the pic is a Cyprus vine growing with it so disregard, I'm looking to id the large leafed plant.

Thanks, it's definitely pokeweed. I'd never heard of it. I quite like the way it looks, and it's in dark shady corner so I think I'll keep it. I see its poisonous and invasive but I don't see it spreading or bothering anyone where it is, we mow regularly around it.

Now for the rest. I'm determined to id that vine, I want to know what it is before I dig it up and toss it.

Number 3. may be one of the Muscadine grapes.. They are/were used quite extensively on arbors and fencerows for their fruit for home use..

Don't think it's a gourd or grapevine. The leaves are irregular but definetly heartshaped. I'm thinking it's a type of morning glory. I just ripped it out and the root system is very long and woody. It gave me a bit of a workout. I'm a little regretful now since its obviously quite a few yrs old. It's never flowered or showed fruit though so I feel it's just wasting space. It was a pretty mound with the Cyprus vine entwined in it. I will try to plant some of it in the back and hope it survives the transplant, maybe it'll surprise me one day.

Oh wow, you may be right. The leaves do seem to match the pictures I'm seeing on google. The flowers are right also except the ones in my yard aren't clustered. I'll have to go take another look in the morning at some that have been allowed to grow, if I can find one. These grow everywhere around here like a weed. I can't find info about these being wildflowers, anyone heard or seen these growing wild?

So number two I thought I had pegged for pentas, it fits the description in every way except this has six petals not five like pentas. If anyone else has an idea please help, I'd really love to know what it is. The stems are fuzzy, you can't see that in the pics.

It's also hard to tell these have six petals I know, but they do. I've checked dozens of times and they're all six petaled. Pentas definetly have just five.

Figured out what 2 is. Florida pusley. Never heard of it but it's definetly that. 3 is growing back, maybe a younger plant will be easier to id.

That's interesting, some of the pics on google do look similar to my vine. Now I really want to know, that would be a nice surprise if I could get mine to bloom someday. The plants sprouting up now look nothing like new morning glory so that's out. Pasaflora is a possibility.
