Someone recently posted a picture that I will try to describe. The top of it looked like a huge coneflower. And (laugh) it almost looked like a giant ear of corn. OK if you are still with me, does anyone remember who posted the picture. And what was it? And I would like to see it again!

What colour was the flower?...or was it a group of flowers on a stem? Did it grow from a clump or was it sort of a bushy plant with flowers scattered over the branches?

The picture was showing mostly just the top part, so I couldn't tell if it was growing on a stem, was a bushy plant or what. It was yellow!

I have the name of the plant - Acorn Banksia (Banksia prionotes). It is orange and silver, but the picture looked yellow!!! :-| Now does this information look familiar to anyone?? If so, can you post your picture again, please.

No that's not it...I described it to a gardener friend and she said it sounds like Acorn Banksia. I remember it was larger around than the pics that Sjoerd posted. Toni, thanks so much for your willingness to help. ;)

No, but the flower itself was about that size.Maybe the person that posted it will come along and read this. Then again, maybe that person isn't on the Stew any longer!
