Two from Oakland, CA. Woody Shrub and Double Bloom

    My sister took these around her neighborhood in Oakland California.
    The first is a woody shrub with that yellow bloom. My first thought was Forsynthia, but I don't think that's right.

    I think she had a photo of the whole plant... I'll see if I can find it and add.

    Second one his this awesome bloom. I just love how the bloom seems to having another bloom drop out of it.

    Any ideas on what they are?

    second flower is abutilon megapotamicum, or easy ...chinese bell flower.
