This is going in the back garden where I don't have nearly as many Gnomes as in the front garden.

Randy got me a Monarch Butterfly garden kit. It has seed packages for 6 different Butterfly weed plants and instructions on how to stratify the seeds 4-6 weeks before planting.

I love the gnomes thingie. I have a swamp milkweed. I love it. I make the seeds drop right near where the main plant stands for them to sprout in the Spring. They do nicely like that.

I already have the A. tuberosa out in that north bed so these plants will go in the back garden. But the other's don't show up in garden centers around here either as plants or seeds  so I am really looking forward to seeing them in bloom.

The A. tuberosa and Hemerocallis 'Crimson Pirate' make a really pretty companion planting.

Great gifts! I've been given thought to what I could plant with the daylilies. Will keep milkweed in mind now

Sjoerd, This is the info on the site he bought it from. I have no idea if they ship out of the U.S. but you might be able to find the same seeds locally. I don't think you have Monarch butterflies in your area but there are other butterflies whose caterpillars love the plants too.

No, you are right--no monarchs here. I was just interested, that's all. I shall go to the link you sent. Thanks much for that.

I'm not sure about the gnomes  though they are kind of cute. I hope you get lots of Monarchs with your new seeds.

When I saw your gnome eating dinosaur Toni I just had to laugh. As you know I don't 'do' gnomes but I'd have that one in my garden!!

We don't have Monarchs here either but I try to plant as many butterfly and bee friendly wild plants in the garden as I can. I'll look forward to seeing those seeds in flower next year.[/i]

I'm sure those gnomes being dealt with are of the criminal variety who wreck folk's gardens. So the dinosaur is just roughing them up a bit. You'll notice two of them are wearing yellow. This is the a signature uniform of the gnome criminal underworld.
