We have a great number of ducks that stay here for the winter. Here are a couple of the common ones, the American Wigeon and the Northern Pintail. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
Both males, Wigeon top Pintail below. Here are the females. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
oh wow! i know that the tail feather sticking up in the back is male. surprized about the other one! thanks!
Most females are drab because they have to sit on nests etc and do not want to stand out. The only female that I know of in North America that is brighter colored than the male is the kingfisher.
We are having a ducky time with the pictures. They make great pictures for wildlife ID when out for walks. Thank you. Jerry
