UK tree with long white flower bracts?

    I am officially rubbish at tree ID and I can't even match this one to anything in my 3 books with trees in...

    It must be a good 30' tall and covered in blossom(well,that was before yesterday's deluge)

    Some of the flower bracts were right way up and others hanging down. Any ideas gratefully received.

    This was already on the ground so no trees were harmed in the asking of this question :D

    I think you're both right again :D I will keep a look out for the berries later on which shouldn't be difficult as we walk the dogs close to them almost every day.
