The plants haven't changed much but as you can see another one is coming up. They are in a big pot in full sun. Should I move them? I water them nearly every day. Should I feed them? Should I put them in the ground? Help!! Dooley
It looks as though what you're doing is just fine Dooley as your plants seem to be thriving. You could give them a feed every couple of weeks if you like just to give them an extra boost.
They love full sun and as many hours as they can get. I think I would put them in the ground tho, they do like their water. I had some planted in front where they only got afternoon sun from about 1-6 and those never got more than a few inches tall in two years. I dug them up this spring and gave them to a friend who planted them in all day sun and they are doing so much better for him.
Dooley Mir-grow ever 7 to 10 days for about a month made mine thick, dark green, and grew over 6 foot tall in full sun (Tony that's true about the sun). The ones I transplanted last year are not as big, fewer flowers, and didn't multiply as much because there in part sun. The full sun ones grew all around my Banana tree chocking it (stopping it from growing).I had to dug them up yesterday and gave them to a friend. I'm shore there be back next year as the roots are very strong, large and keep multiplying. I know I didn't get them all. Pick a large area for them
Looking good Dooley! I would recommend putting them in the ground too. I had some in a large planter and they multiplied so much that they cracked the planter!
Cannas work well in containers but it has to be a big pot. we have to take them inside or dig them up around here as they are not hardy in Connecticut. My experience has been they are pretty heavy feeders so fertilizer doesn't hurt. I also dead head the flowers when they are done blooming.
I hardly water mine never feed them except compost and they just grow and grow.I have some in containers and some in the ground.I think I'll feed them and see how they do.
