I have not seen a moth nor a butterfly and these little things showed up inside my greenhouse so I am at a total loss. I know it isa not a ladybug grub and I have a small amount of nibvbling holes in a couple plants so I need to ID these buggers before they become a problem. They are a grub of some sort for almost certain. They hide in the ground and under stuff unlike cutter larva and others I find under leaves. This picture is of the same grub, I figured even with the bright picture it might help to ID this little bugger. Could it be from a hover fly or other beneficial insect? I have seen them in there as well as hover bees and other flies.
Grubs are the larvae of either Japanese beetles or June Bugs. They eat the roots of grass and plants and are not a gardens friend. The beetle does pretty much the same thing then lays more eggs in the ground to become more grubs that will continue to eat. Some squish them when found, some put them in a small container and put them where the insect eating birds can feast on them and I just throw them away in the trash.
Sounds like it is time to do some spraying with my grub killer then. Glad I got it before hand and have it handy. I found another pain in the neck today on my strawberries, spittle bugs. Those little monsters are such a mess.
