This is just a quick observation about something so obvious I didn't notice before....

I'm not a vegetarian, but veggies are the main component to most of my meals. I use a lot of vegetables in my every day life -- smoothies, juicing, meals, snacks. So I spend a lot of time prepping those veggies and putting them in the fridge or freezer for when I need them during the week. Three weeks ago I built a compost bin and got is started. Here's the observation... I can't believe how fast it's building up with everything I normally would have thrown away that is now going in the bin. Like so many of you, I have a busy life, but it wasn't until I stopped to throw something in my compost bin that I realized how much valuable green matter I was simply throwing away. I'm so much more aware of it now.

V, I am blessed to have chickens who return the offering with healthier eggs and I built a vermicomposter this Spring and many of my extras also go in there.

Before I throw anything away, I tend to stop and think if it can be used at least one more time.
I started a compost bin last year and can't wait to use the goodies this spring.

    V, good for you!
We've composted for years, but since we got our hens our compost is so much better--it's a matter of scraps into the hens, compost additive out of the hens, and everybody is happy :-D !
