Is there more to the plant? Or is it just the leaves and flower?

That is a Trillium and from the looks of it probably Trillium cuneatum. The flowers come in yellow and burgundy. The yellow is a bit more rare than burgundy. I love these flowers. They are all over the woods here. The biggest one that I have seen was the size of a dinner plate.

A word of caution about picking flowers in the wild...in some states wildcrafting, as that is called, is illegal. Some states only include the Threatened and Endangered Species on that list but in some states all plants growing in the wild are covered.

Thank you so much for your help, my daughter found the plant in the wooded area of her yard so maybe she will not be in trouble. As always you are great and I appreciate all your help.

Nice woodland flower, a little too sensitive for the northern woods,:-( I will have to look next walk in the woods, you never know.

Now that is an lovely trillium. Had to order a couple of those, again... They are available from some reputable nurseries along with some lovely orchids I have yet to purchase because of price. Your daughter is lucky to have a great place to grow them.
