In the latest issue of The Herb Quarterly were articles about these two stories. The Minnesota Vikings football team practice field has a veggie garden to help warn grounds keepers of disease so they use fewer chemicals. http://gardeningafterfive.wordpress.com ... uard-turf/ And a 750 year old tree in Jordan killed by investor who excavated into it's roots. http://thewatchers.adorraeli.com/2011/0 ... in-jordan/
what a shame about the old oak tree, looking at the pic reminded me i had this. . . . sherwoods famous oak ( photo / image / picture from lukeypukey's Garden ) this is apparently robin hoods famous oak tree from sherwood forest
Toni thanks for the info. Great idea with the veggie garden. Less chemicals is always better for everyone. It is to sad about that neat looking oak to have died because of someones carelessness. It looked so majestic.
I really enjoyed reading about the garden in relationship to the football fields. And sad about that tree. There was pretty large oak growing at hubby's grandparents' old house (which became his parents house later on). I can't remember how long they said it had been growing. Seems like it wasn't even a year after his parents passed away, the tree started dying... like it grieved itself to death. I almost cried when they had to cut it down. :'( Anyhow... cool photo of Robin Hood's tree!
