Great idea Donna, do you have to teach them how to climb? How many plants are there? Thought I'll give it a try
That is very nice. I also would to do this, maybe next year. Yours look nice and healthy. I don't understand if you have so much growth why only a few fruit?
KK, Yes I have to tie the vines up some. There are 4 supports with 2 plants per support. As they grew the weight started to sway my supports, so I tied all the supports together and that seems to be working. I will take a picture today of an empty support. Cheryl, Cantaloupe and honey dew.
Great-looking melon plants and melon BH, as we call them. It looks like you are going to have a good harvest this year. Those plants look happy there.
melon supports I put the pvc pipe in the ground enough to sturdy them. Then the legs of cages go into pvc pipe. You can make them any height you want or need. I use these for cucumbers, tomatoes, melons or anything the vines. They really are very sturdy and hold a lot of weight. I've been using these same ones for 3 years now, so it's a cheap investment. I found out the tomato clips I bought this spring work well here to. Clips in first picture. Thanks Cheryl Ronni, I bag them because the fruit is to heavy to hang on their own. They are supposed to grow on the ground, but I don't have the space so I grow them vertically.
