When it rains I start to ponder all sorts of weird things. For instance...

Why is there an Ornitogalum in my orchid bed? We haven't got any, and neither do the neighbours.

Is this what a strawberry bed should look like?

Is a lilac still a lilac when it's white?

I love the motto on this boat. "Nihil Sine Labore".(Nothing without work.) But how much effort do you have to make in order to afford a boat like this?

Why are children at their most creative when it's raining and they've got lots of chores waiting for them?

When are you too old to want a pirate cake for your birthday?

Final question: Are there less hours in a day this year than last year, or does time fly faster as you grow older?

    Too funny!
What does "Nihil Sien Labore" translate to in English? I'm guessing something like "not much work"?
That pirate cake is awesome. I'd say never to old for something like that.
And as far as that last question, reminds me of a saying.... "life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end of it, the faster it seems to go." :D

Oh, sorry Cheryl, it means "Nothing without work" or "without effort". I'll add it to the main post. My nephew's girlfriend made that cake for her brother-in-law-to-be for his 25th birthday. I'm thinking of commissioning one for myself for next year. And thanks for the answer to the last question. :D It makes sense.

Hey I want fancy nails like that and a pirate ship cake for my birthday. If Ian feels inclined I could always find a place for a boat like that one in your photograph. Do you think he'd buy me one?!! Maybe I'll just settle for a white lilac tree instead if it produces such lovely blooms. :-D

A bird must have planted it, no, yes, a HUGE effort I think, just to test our patience, you are never too old for cake, and my Mom tells me that time passes quicker when you get older. ;)
I wish I had a rainy day to ponder things too! :D

Eileen, you could borrow my 15-year-old. She loves doing artwork. Even on nails. :p As for the boat I'm not certain I would want one. I wouldn't dare use it. I usually scratch new, shiny things on my first try. :D

Netty, they might have, only it hasn't set seed for the two years it's been there. Hm. Mystery not solved.

The girls wanted a strawberry bed, and they made a bed. :D I'll plant strawberries and see how things work out.

I need to make a healthy breakfast. My body's craving cake and I haven't got any. :p
