I spent the day in Columbus Ohio. One of our Legion Members was selected to be inducted into the State Veterans Hall of Fame. He is a retired Army Major General and fought in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He spent 40 years of his life defending America. There were about 15 of us from our county that went down to offer our support for him. They only induct 20 veterans per year into the Hall of Fame. The most famous of past inductees is John Glenn, the astronaut. The General is a very humble man and did not want the recognition or the awards. Now for a bit of coincidence. One of our members is a WWII POW held by the Germans. The Division that the General was in, helped to release the POW Camp. Neither knew about that relationship until just a few years ago. How cool is that!
I'm pleased for your newly famous comrade in arms! Well deserved I say. I bet your friend was mighty proud too.
Most definately a well earned (and deserved) placement in the State Veterans Hall of Fame. 40 years defending your country is something to be proud of - thank goodness for men like him. :-D
