Today was the day where the Essex branch of Veterans ceased holding Veterans day and now fall under the umbrella of British Armed Forces Day. There have been lots of events for this over this weekend, but today, at Hylands Park in Chelsmford, the Vets had their last parade and the Air Training Corps also held their parade. Marks 14 year old daughter, Eleanor, is in the Air Training Corps, so we went along to support here. There were lots of war time vehicles and paraphanalia, displays, and side shows. We also went into Hylands House which was used as a hospital in WW1. It was a lovely day, the weather was gorgeous, and the children and Vets all looked very dashing in their uniforms.

Here she is with Jessica and James. They are very proud of their big sister.

As you can see, there were an awful lot of these young teenagers in uniform.

There was a selection of vehicles all owned by enthusiasts.

A fantastic Spitfire replica. My grandad was lucky enough to have a spell flying one of these babies.

This jeep and equiptment is in the arctic camo colours for work in Norway.

This snipper greeted us upon arrival in the park!!

    Fantastic Plymouth.

    And another Plymouth.

Lots of people in 1940's costumes. There was jitterbugging and jiving and great music.

Inside the house. Beautiful ceilings. You can now have your wedding or party at the house.

And I loved the colours on this vase.

Hope you enjoyed our day out as much as we did.

Looks like a lovely day out, EJ. Your Eleanor looks very proud in her uniform. :D I guess you were proud of her too, eh?

I love old veterans. The vehicles I mean. :D They've got style, class and grace. I enjoy the curves and the detailed work in them.

I wouldn't mind having a ceiling like that, and a house to match either.

These are really nice pics. What an interesting variety of things you have to show.
There sure were alot of folks in uniform there on the parade grounds.
That Spitfire replica is a smashing bit of machinery!

I wouldn't mind owning one of those vintage cars - especially a Plymouth.

Eleanor looks great in her uniform neither wonder you were all so proud of her. I'm glad you had a lovely time and that the weather was kind to you all.

What a great day out Emma. Eleanor looks really good in her uniform, no wonder you and Mark are proud of her. Takes me back, my son used to be in the ATC in his youth. Love the old cars, the spitfire and the ornate ceilings.
