This past weekend my fellow and I took a trip to the Blue Ridge mountains and surrounding areas. We visited the Lover's Leap area and stopped at the popular overlook. The views from that 1,578 ft. elevation were glorious! The overlook is located in Patrick County, VA in the Blue Ridge Highlands region. It is about 5 miles west of the Blue Ridge parkway. The area was packed with people enjoying the beautiful fall colors and shopping at the local mountain stores for the tastiest apples and cabbages that could be found. The legend for this particular Lover's Leap is that of the son of a white settler and a beautiful Native American maiden named "Morning Flower". They fell in love, and after being threatened and shunned by both the settlers and the Native Americans, they jumped together from the cliff. The overlook with a beautiful stone wall was built during the construction of Highway 58 and is called "Rock Cut" by the locals. The whole area was beautiful. There were so many scenic vistas that I nearly wore out my camera. I liked seeing these beautiful fotos. I like legends like that as well. You two must have had a very good time on that trip. I am very happy that you shared some fotos.
Thank you. We did have a wonderful relaxing day enjoying nature. I am afraid the pics do not do justice to how colorful the leaves on the trees actually were.
What wonderful vistas Tammy. I can almost smell the fresh air from here. A beautiful place to spend time and appreciate what Mother Nature has on offer.
