    My favorite bird stopped by to pick through the safflower that the wind blew off of the tray feeder...

    Thank you Netty...I would have more of them if the blackbirds wouldn't keep chasing them away...

    Frank....I have noticed this year that a lot of plants are sticky when you deadhead them, especially my petunias. Some types are worse than others. Also I feed the orioles jam/jelly and if the cardinal was any where near the feeder he might have a sticky beak. Safflower has some light pieces to it when pecked open and even the slightest stickiness or wet on a beak could do it. I have noticed this on my house finches too. They also love safflower.

    Sherry I to enjoy seeing them at our feeders. Yes they do love the safflower seed.
    Now they are bringing the young with them and it's fun to watch all the begging the young do from their parent bird. They are as big and can very nicely eat the seeds for themselves. But they would rather beg and be feed.

    beautiful! There are cardinals around here, I caught a fuzzy picture of the elusive female!!! He is a beauty though :D *cardinals are my favorite non raptor birds :)
