    A visit to the Guildhall was very interesting,..lovely Oak beams and furniture,..the Cells were very small.

    It was Bikers Day in Matlock,..but first i wanted to taste those famous Matlock fish and Chips,..huge Cod,..very tasty.

    I don't think I'd have liked to have been incarcerated in one of those tiny cells especially if photograph 7 was the way they had of making sure you didn't escape!! :eek:

    Great pictures Philip and beautiful architecture. What a pity though that you couldn't make it up to us here in Scotland. Maybe another time?

    Hi Eileen,
    Scotland is certainly on my list,..i did visit Glasgow several times,..i drove from Dublin to the North of Ireland,..went across to Scotland on the ferry then drove to Glasgow,..i remember i asked for red lemonade for my whiskey,..red lemonade??,..unheard of but "Iron Brew" served as a substitute.

    I especially liked the foto sprtead in the beginning of the old place (Guildhall).

    Philip, I have to say I love your Irish brogue :D Much easier on the ear than an English accent <.< The place is interesting :) Love that fireplace lol

    so you love the Irish Brogue,.. :) we seldom hear a members voice or accent and most times its not anything like you expected,..but its interesting,..when making a short video its so hard knowing what to say,..and i mumbled a lot, :rolleyes: .

    I was amazed by the amount of motorcycles,..even though it was bikers day,..and everyone of them so well mannered.

    I visited as many OLD buildings as possible,..many were churches 500 and 600 years old,..lovely stonework and feeling of ancients,..one church had a section to Saint Catherine of Alexandria,..she is known as Saint Catherine of the wheel as she was tortured to death on a spiked wheel by the Emperor Maxentius because of her faith and refusal to become his mistress.( the fireworks knows as a Catherine Wheel gets its name from St Catherine).

    I love old "sssstuff"
    (Miranda Priestly would kill me for that word!)

    With all the old history we have here in Romania, most of the fortresses are in ruin.

    We still have some nice castles and monasteries though.
