I don't think I'd have liked to have been incarcerated in one of those tiny cells especially if photograph 7 was the way they had of making sure you didn't escape!! Great pictures Philip and beautiful architecture. What a pity though that you couldn't make it up to us here in Scotland. Maybe another time?
Hi Eileen, Scotland is certainly on my list,..i did visit Glasgow several times,..i drove from Dublin to the North of Ireland,..went across to Scotland on the ferry then drove to Glasgow,..i remember i asked for red lemonade for my whiskey,..red lemonade??,..unheard of but "Iron Brew" served as a substitute.
Nice foto's, Philip. Nowe seems like a good time to travel. I especially liked the foto sprtead in the beginning of the old place (Guildhall). Sorry to hear about your water shortage there in Ireland.
Hi Sjoerd, a short video of the Guildhall interior,..hope you can understand my Irish Brogue,..plus most of the time i am mumbling to myself. http://s1098.photobucket.com/albums/g36 ... ldHall.mp4
Philip, I have to say I love your Irish brogue Much easier on the ear than an English accent <.< The place is interesting Love that fireplace lol
Hi Jen, so you love the Irish Brogue,.. we seldom hear a members voice or accent and most times its not anything like you expected,..but its interesting,..when making a short video its so hard knowing what to say,..and i mumbled a lot, . =================================================== Hi Kim, thank you,..i am pleased to hear you like the photos,..it keeps me posting knowing members like them.
That was very interesting to watch.... you'd make a good tour guide! And you sound just about how I imagined.
Thank you Cheryl, i think the brogue comes through in the posts,lol,..but nice to know you got it right in your imagination of me. ===================================================== There you go Michael,..another fan of the brogue, . ===================================================== I was amazed by the amount of motorcycles,..even though it was bikers day,..and everyone of them so well mannered. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )[/i Tracy has an art gallery on the west coast of England and is a dab hand with a brush herself,..two of her pictures hang on her dining room wall. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Tracy trying to get a mouthful but i always have the camera at the ready. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) I guess it worked both ways, lol. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Not a castle,..but the Leicestershire Prison. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) I was admiring the Hollyhocks of course. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) I visited as many OLD buildings as possible,..many were churches 500 and 600 years old,..lovely stonework and feeling of ancients,..one church had a section to Saint Catherine of Alexandria,..she is known as Saint Catherine of the wheel as she was tortured to death on a spiked wheel by the Emperor Maxentius because of her faith and refusal to become his mistress.( the fireworks knows as a Catherine Wheel gets its name from St Catherine). http://womenshistory.about.com/od/early ... e_alex.htm ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Video===15th Century Churches,..Leicestershire,..England. That's all folks. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Very much enjoyed the pics and little video. Thanks so much for sharing. How nice to see parts of the world I would otherwise not see.
I love old "sssstuff" (Miranda Priestly would kill me for that word!) With all the old history we have here in Romania, most of the fortresses are in ruin. We still have some nice castles and monasteries though.
