We have lots of butterflies visiting our garden. Some came with luggage and moved in!

This Queen is feeding on Gregg's Blue Mist, one of her favorite flowers.

This Giant Swallowtail is on lantana, which is a butterfly magnet.

    Questionmark butterfly ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden )
This Questionmark is getting a drink from a damp stone. We try to keep shallow containers filled, and muddy spots (which is NOT easy in Texas) for our butterflies to use. Early in the morning stones have condensation, and it's easy to get a good photo of a butterfly busy drinking.

    Female swallowtail ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden )
This female Swallowtail is one of the prettiest butterflies to move in. She lays her eggs on rue or dill, and then we get second and third generations of butterflies.
We have more butterflies than these, but they won't sit still to have their portraits taken.
Hope y'all enjoy our visitors as much as we do!

Oooh, I'd love some of those in my garden! They're all lovely. I hope you'll share some more when you manage to capture them with your camera.

WOW I feel the same as Droopy and would so enjoy having butterflies like that in my own garden. Wonderful shots and I, too, hope to see many more from you. :stew2:

I love your butterflies MG. Great shots. :stew1: I guess I need to chase some butterflies around with my camera one of these days and see what I can get. I have lots of butterflies right now, I just have not gotten any shots of them. ...oops. I did get a nice Luna Moth yesterday in town. He sat still and posed pretty for me too. After I took his picture he flew away.

AAnightowl, that is a great photo of the Luna. I've never had a butterfly nor moth visit my truck. Guess they are too fastidious!
Jewell, wish I could claim artistry, but the photo was just dumb luck!

That luna moth was at the gas pumps at the local McD's. My son handed it to me and it rested on his car door... This moth was not so fastidious at all. My son's car doesnt pass my inspection, but he gives me rides when I need to go places.
