The birds come every evening to the water tub in the front yard. Some evenings I try to wait and get a picture. Mostly they won't come near when we are out there. Last night I took the hose and filled the tub and then sat in a chair a little away. I found a distance meter on the camera that I didn't know was there. dr and I sat quietly. The birds did a few passes and then came and sat in the tree and on the fence and the post but they could see us sitting there so they wouldn't come down to the tub. I did get some pictures but they aren't as clear as I would like. I'll keep trying until I get the hang of it. cardinal waiting for water ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) waiting, waiting ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) another one ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) Maybe I'll be able to upload some more tomorrow. I have some doves and some sparrows and one that I need to look up in a book. I think it's a woodpecker but I'm not sure. dooley
Those a great Dooley. The other weekend, I was determined to get a photo of a bird enjoying the bird bath. I sat and sat. Then moved a little over here and a little over there. After a couple of hours, I gave up and went about doing "normal" things. I look up... and yep... a bird just splashing happily along! So... I got the camera out again... changed to a completely different location and waited some more. Well... needless to say, since I haven't posted a single photo of a bathing bird... you get the idea! :-D I still can't figure out how they know the camera is on or not! :-?
At least you managed to photograph the cardinal. It's a very pretty bird. I think that we stare to much at the birds when we sit and wait for them to come closer. They probably feel like pray.
