Go to maps.google.com ... left side of screen click on Get Directions....in block A enter The Shire....in block B enter Mordor. Click on the walking figure above the blocks and see what adventure the map sends you on. So far I have directions for three local trips, I'm curious to see what trips come up in other parts of the world.
I did get a caution that one does not simply walk into Mordor. If a hobbit can do it I don't see why I can't do it. Two routes to Mordor one involved taking the subway in Boston and the other had me walking the freedom trail(Boston's version of walking through local neighborhoods rich with Colonial history) Around here, Mordor seems to be located in Boston's Scollay Square(of Charlie on the MTA fame). Long demolished as part of a urban renovation to create City square and the 'new' City hall, it still remains in the hearts and minds of a lot of people. I wonder if The Shire has a zip code?......more research. Jerry P.S. Obviously Amy Ratcliffe had nothing to do that day.
Haha, I tried it from Norway, but it refused to co-operate. I kept on nagging, and my starting point is here: The Shire London Saint Albans Road, Barnet, Hertfordshire EN5 4RE, Storbritannia And my destination's here: Mordor Kooltuin 8, 1811 MG Alkmaar, Nederland The funny thing is, we passed Alkmaar on our holiday this summer.
One of my walking trips was from The Shire apartments in Port Arthur on the Texas Gulf Coast up to Mordor Lane in Frisco, Texas a few miles north of me. That was a 315 mile walk that would take roughly 105 hours. I would definitely look a lot like Frodo and Sam after making that walk.
