Yeah, I'd be "amazed at how natural it looks" --but I bet it still crunches when you walk across that grass!
When I was stationed in the desert, we had sand. My barracks duty was to rake the sand in nice even stripes morning and night. LOL I was raised to never pray for rain but to pray for the wisdom to survive without. But, I guess they are providing work for the landscapers and it is natural and organic. I just would never do it... still seems wasteful and vain. to each their own
OMG I can't believe that they are doing that either. They could save money and replace their lawn with green turf carpet. No more watering, mowing or any kind of lawn care.
This seems kind of silly to me. As much as I would like to have a green lawn, I certainly would not pay someone or pay for the equipment to paint it. My neighbors lawn looks just as bad as mine does.
Sounds like it is cheaper to let your grass dry out and paint it than to water and have a lawn care company maintain it. Because of water costs and water restrictions here the city gives out signs for brown yards that say "sleeping grass" to encourage water conservation. I wonder how the lawn looks once it rains and starts to grow with the paint?
As lawns get browner and browner, earlier and earlier people will look for alternatives. Especially businesses that want to present a good image. I'll keep my brown lawn. It looks good in the spring and we all turn brown in the summer. :-| Jerry
When I looked at the article, my first thought was that's kinda crazy. But, Pianolady, you bring up a good point. I'm sure there'd be a whack of chemicals in it, but flame retardant would sure help in a fire situation!
In the town where we used to live, the town staff actually gave out awards for the brownest lawns, lol. They were trying to encourage using the sprinkling regulations. If they liked the look of your dormant, brown crunch lawn, they'd stick a sign in your yard, congratulating you for winning a brown lawn award.
