    Hello

My neighbor has this really neat bushy tree in his yard. I would like to get a start off of it. However, I am not sure how I would this. Does anyone know how to get a start off of a tree? When I make it outside I will add a picture of the tree in my garden. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

If you are handy enough to tape two mason jar rings together you can buld a mini terrarium to propagate cutting(s) in, cut the buried end on an angle treat with rooting hormone and place in soil in bottom jar filled with equal parts sand and peat. water well.

I usually use a mayonaise jar for bottom jar because I can add a drain hole to it.

Use dormant semi hardwood for this, a thin branch of last years growth.

Not every tree or shrub can be propagated this way, but many can, and its afordable.

You will need to talk to your neighbor to do an air-layer.

    Daysmommy,
Ask your neighbor what the tree is, which will make it much easier for us to advise you how to propagate it. If he doesn't know, take a small branch with leaves on it in a sealed plastic bag to a good nursery or to your local Agricultural Extension office and get it identified.
With all the knowledge here on the forum, we'll get you that tree!
